I’ve spent the past twenty years delivering technology promises: cloud promises, data migration promises, telecommunication promises and transformation promises. I’ve also spent this time learning the various methods for delivering these promises: military decision making process (MDMP), waterfall, scrum, agile and product over project mindset. The central question that drives my work is, “How can we delivery technology better”? To answer that question, I write about the various trends in technology delivery and review the latest research on those trends. You’ll find interesting articles to read on topics such as how IT can deliver better business value as well as personal recommendations like my list of best books to read and hear directly from industry executives on what they think about technology delivery.
I’ve learned this: despite what the Project Management Institute (PMI) or Agile evangelist will tell you, one type of delivery method doesn’t fit every type of technology initiative. I believe that a true Master of Technology Delivery is a continual learner. It’s someone who has a tested tool kit for delivery but is also someone who has the flexibility to mold that toolkit for the delivery situation, not the other way around.
Talking Delivery will include interviews from top executives at the forefront of innovation as well as delivery practitioners on the front lines of it.
I look forward to our conversation. -Starr
